Marc Turtletaub to Direct Film Adaptation of Ben Reeves’ Bestseller

Producer-director Marc Turtletaub confirmed that he will helm a feature-length adaptation of British author Ben Reeves’ novel *Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt*. Screenwriter Oren Moverman, a long-time creative partner, will write the screenplay, and production is slated to take place in the United Kingdom.

Reeves’ debut novel entered the *New York Times* bestseller list in its first week of release, drawing attention for its quiet meditation on mortality. The story follows Travis, a caretaker who provides comfort to people in their final hours, and his evolving relationship with Dalia, a midwife, and her eight-year-old daughter Layla, who live across the hall.

Turtletaub and Moverman have collaborated on several projects. Moverman wrote the screenplay for Turtletaub’s 2018 film *Puzzle* and most recently for *Borges and Me*, which is set to debut at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Turtletaub’s last directorial effort was *Jules* (2023).
