Trump Urges DST
- President Donald Trump urged the Senate to pass the Sunshine Protection Act, which would make daylight saving time permanent.
- Senate Majority Leader John Thune said the measure may not reach 60 votes and will not be considered until after the recess ends on Sept. 14.
- Senators Tom Cotton and Steve Daines opposed the bill, warning that winter sunrises could be as late as 9:30 a.m., endangering children and workers.
