Warner Bros. Discovery’s live-plus-three-day data show that the series finale, which aired on a Sunday in early August, accumulated roughly 21 million viewers worldwide across HBO and HBO Max. More than 11 million of those viewers were in the United States, according to the combined Nielsen linear-cable measurement and Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming tally.

Season-to-Season Viewership Trends

The finale’s three-day total is down about 2 percent from the season-3 premiere, which Warner Bros. Discovery recorded at 21.5 million viewers. The season-3 opener itself was 8 percent lower than the season-2 premiere, which drew 23.4 million viewers in the same measurement window. Season 2’s finale previously reached 8.9 million viewers on its Sunday night debut, while its premiere set a then-record of 7.8 million single-day viewers.

Streaming Performance and Rankings

Across the first seven episodes, the season is averaging roughly 34 million viewers per episode, a figure that nearly matches Season 2’s 35 million-viewer average. HBO has indicated that these numbers place “House of the Dragon” among the top three most-watched returning series in HBO Max’s history.

Renewal and Additional Programming

HBO has confirmed a fourth and final season of the dragon saga. All three seasons are now available for streaming on HBO Max. viewers per episode, according to internal Warner Bros. Discovery data.
