Darrelle Revis Considers Joining Jim Leonhard’s Bills Staff

Former first-ballot Hall of Fame cornerback Darrelle Revis, 41, told reporters from Canton, Ohio, that he would be “not joking at all” about helping defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard in Buffalo. Revis said he would contact Leonhard if a secondary-coach opening arose, noting the Bills’ new stadium and the appeal of returning to football.

Revis and Leonhard first teamed up on the New York Jets in 2009, when Rex Ryan was head coach. That season the Jets posted league-best defensive numbers: fewest points allowed, fewest yards per play, and a passer rating of 58.8 for opposing quarterbacks. Leonhard started every game, recording one interception, five pass breakups, 2½ sacks, nine tackles for loss and a forced fumble, while Revis earned his first All-Pro nod and a career-high six interceptions with an NFL-record 31 pass breakups. The pair helped New York reach its first AFC Championship Game, with Leonhard adding an interception, two forced fumbles and a recovery in the postseason.
