Emilia Jones Leads Netflix’s Limited Series “The Retrievals”

Emilia Jones has been cast as the lead in *The Retrievals*, a limited drama series slated for Netflix. The show adapts the New York Times and Serial Productions podcast of the same name, which recounts a real-world legal battle sparked by a nurse’s theft of fentanyl from a Yale University fertility clinic.

The narrative follows Gabby Clemente, a New Haven bartender and student teacher who endures a painful egg-retrieval procedure performed without anesthesia. After learning that a clinic nurse was siphoning large quantities of fentanyl, Gabby mobilizes other IVF patients—estimated by the podcast to be “almost 100” women—to pursue a groundbreaking lawsuit against Yale University. The series therefore blends personal drama with a broader critique of medical malpractice and institutional accountability.

Molly Smith Metzler serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer through her Quiet Coyote banner. She collaborates with longtime partners Colin McKenna and Lucky Chap Productions, the latter co-founded by actress-producer Margot Robbie, with Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley and Robbie herself listed as executive producers. Caitlin Roper represents The New York Times, and podcast creator Susan Burton is credited as an executive producer. Director Lila Neugebauer, known for episodes of *Maid* and *Sirens*, helms the pilot and also serves as an executive producer.
