The Exhibition and One Aldwych Partnership
The Bayeux Tapestry, a nearly 1,000-year-old embroidered narrative of the 1066 Norman conquest, is on view at the British Museum from September 2026 until July 2027. One Aldwych, a five-star hotel in Covent Garden, has a corporate partnership that guarantees each guest a single ticket to the exhibition for stays booked between 10 September 2026 and 31 December 2026. Guests also receive a themed cocktail and a full English breakfast.
Public Demand and Ticket Revenue
The initial release covered slots from September to December; additional releases are scheduled for October and January for the remainder of the exhibition period.
Museum’s Official Position
A British Museum spokesperson explained that, as a corporate partner, One Aldwych receives a limited quota of tickets to offer at its discretion. Two further scheduled opportunities to purchase tickets will be announced for visits from January 2027 to July 2027. Special viewings are allocated for schools, and all under-16s tickets are free when accompanied by an adult.
Access Options for Visitors
Beyond the hotel partnership, visitors can obtain tickets through the museum’s standard online sales when they become available, join the British Museum members association (which includes two tickets per member), or view a replica at Reading Museum. However, for those staying at One Aldwych, the partnership remains the only guaranteed way to secure a ticket during the high-demand early months of the exhibition.
