OpenAI Faces Wave of Executive Departures Amid Leadership Reshuffle

OpenAI has seen several senior leaders leave within a short span. Revenue chief Denise Dresser exited after eight months, having been tasked with expanding the company’s high-margin enterprise unit that competes directly with rival Anthropic. Her departure followed the exit of longtime executive Brad Lightcap, who ended an eight-year tenure to “start something new.” Earlier, Fidji Simo, the product and business chief, stepped down to focus on recovery from a severe chronic-illness exacerbation. Brockman, who assumed Simo’s responsibilities, now oversees OpenAI’s most profitable projects. The firm appointed Dali Rajic, formerly chief operating officer of cybersecurity firm Wiz (acquired by Google for $32 billion earlier this year), as the new chief revenue officer.

Lightcap’s exit created a vacancy that Dresser filled in April, when OpenAI announced she would transition from operating chief to a role centered on “special projects.” Dresser then inherited many of Lightcap’s duties.
