In mid-August, two senior-year students from Sultana High School—Maddalyn Dailey, 17, and Isabell DeLang, 16—were killed when an Acura TL driven by Dailey entered an intersection on Ridgecrest Road and Elmwood Drive in Victorville. A black Dodge Charger and a yellow Chevrolet Camaro, both traveling north at high speed, struck the Acura, shearing the vehicle in half and killing the occupants inside.
Investigation Findings
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the Dodge’s driver remained at the scene and was arrested on a charge of vehicular manslaughter. The Chevrolet’s driver fled on foot and has not been located, according to CHP statements. Investigators noted the two non-Acura vehicles appeared to be racing, and the drivers are believed to know each other. No evidence of intoxication was confirmed at the time of reporting.
