Commanders’ Quarterback Outlook
Analysts highlighted that a healthy Jayden Daniels could dramatically improve Washington’s standing, especially if first-time play-caller David Blough performs well. Riddick described Daniels as a “superstar” whose near-MVP season in 2024 suggests near-elite potential. The analysts warned that Daniels’ success hinges on adequate offensive-line protection; they noted that the team does not want him to rely heavily on running.
Offensive Line Changes and Trade Prospects
The Commanders are expected to trade left-tackle Brandon Coleman before the 2027 season in exchange for a valuable return. Coleman’s career pass-block win rate stands at 90.7 %, with a 92.3 % rate last season, though that figure benefited from additional double-team help. With Laremy Tunsil recovering from triceps surgery and unlikely to return in 2026, Coleman would assume the starting left-tackle role. General manager Adam Peters and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn have been tasked with ensuring the line protects Daniels, a point emphasized by the analysts as critical to the quarterback’s health.
