David Krumholtz Steps Back From Acting

In a recent Threads post that was later deleted, the 48-year-old actor said he is “frustrated, fed up, fried” with the business and that he had already sent a “definitive email” to end his acting work. He described feeling “a huge wave of relief” after making the decision and noted that the professional side of acting has “lost its gleam” for him. Krumholtz added that he is not ending his relationship with the craft entirely but is “redefining my terms” and hopes to find a “new, more rewarding passion” while seeking ways to be of service.

Krumholtz has amassed more than 140 credits dating back to the early 1990s. Early roles include parts on *Law & Order*, *Life with Mikey*, and *Addams Family Values*. He later appeared in *The Santa Clause* franchise as Head Elf Bernard, and held regular TV roles on *Monty*, *Chicago Sons*, *The Closer*, *The Trouble With Normal*, and a 119-episode run on *Numb3rs*. Film highlights feature *Slums of Beverly Hills*, *10 Things I Hate About You*, *Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle*, *Superbad*, *Oppenheimer* (as Isidor Rabi), and recent work on *Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere* and *The Studio*. Most recently he portrayed Zor-El in *Supergirl* and attended the series’ world premiere in New York on June 22 2026.
