Olivia Colman Joins Season 6 of “Only Murders in the Building”

Olivia Colman, an Academy-Award-winning actress, has been announced as the newest guest star for the London-set sixth season of the Hulu mystery series “Only Murders in the Building.” The casting was revealed in a promotional video posted to the show’s Instagram account, which also featured returning cast members Selena Gomez, Meryl Streep and Martin Short.

Season 6 is currently in production in the United Kingdom. The storyline will follow the series’ amateur-detective trio as they travel across the Atlantic to continue investigating the death of Cinda Canning, a plot thread left unresolved at the end of the fifth season. No release date has been announced.

In addition to Colman, the season brings together a large ensemble of British talent, including David Tennant, Sharon Horgan, Martin Freeman, Jim Broadbent, Jennifer Saunders, Geri Halliwell, Nicola Coughlan, Sean Teale, Simone Ashley, Jodie Whittaker, Rhea Norwood, Richard Ayoade, Amar Chadha-Patel, Matthew Beard, Jamie Demetriou, Anjana Vasan, Jane Horrocks, Derek Jacobi, Adrian Lukis, Kathryn Hunter, Lesley Nicol and Peter Capaldi. Returning regulars Steve Martin, Michael Cyril Creighton, Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Meryl Streep also appear. The series was co-created and written by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, who executive-produce alongside Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith, Jennifer Crittenden and Gabrielle Allan. Production is handled by 20th Television.
