Ukraine Presses EU to Sanction Russia’s Rosatom Over El Dabaa Safety Concerns

Ukraine’s foreign ministry has asked European Union member states to impose sanctions on the Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom. The request follows a Politico investigation that detailed alleged safety and engineering shortcomings at Rosatom’s flagship El Dabaa nuclear plant project in Egypt. Kyiv’s appeal emphasizes that a company implicated in war-related activities should not be permitted to engage in nuclear commerce with any state.
