Southern Train Derails
- A Southern (Greater Thameslink Railway) train derailed near Lewes, East Sussex, on 13 August 2026, injuring 30 people.
- CCTV at about 2:04 pm recorded the eight-carriage 1F34 traveling at roughly 65 mph encountering a track geometry irregularity.
- Network Rail and Southern announced the line will remain closed until at least 26 August 2026 because of river proximity and limited access, as ambient temperature hovered around 27 °C during a heat wave that pushed London to 38.1 °C.
