DOJ Deploys Monitors
- The U.S. Department of Justice will deploy 1,000 election monitors to polling places, starting in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and Laramie County, Wyoming on August 18.
- DOJ officials say the rollout is routine, nondiscriminatory monitoring under Voting Rights Act, despite a gutted Civil Rights Division and failed voter-data lawsuits.
- Harmeet K. Dhillon, attorney general, said 1,000 monitors are a historic level for administration.
