Muzirikazi’s departure followed a claim by his father that the trip was a genuine job prospect. “It looked like a genuine opportunity,” — Vharance Goodho. Goodho, who financed police clearance certificates and medical exams, later learned that Dylan Goodho told his family after arriving in Russia that he was a soldier, not a car-import agent. The families say recruiters continue to lure young men from Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa with false promises of work abroad.
Government Response
Zimbabwe’s foreign ministry told the family in July that it had forwarded their request for repatriation to the embassy in Russia. The ministry has not provided further details on the status of the request.
