Film Adaptation Announcement

Lord Miller, the production banner founded by Academy Award-winning filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, will produce a feature-length adaptation of Forrest Brazeal’s debut novel *Paradox Inc.* for Universal Pictures. The story pits a scrappy startup against a dysfunctional Big-Tech giant in a race to create the world’s first consumer time machine, with the ultimate prize described as “control of reality itself.”

Creative Team and Production Leadership

Canadian director Daniel Roher—who earned an Oscar for the 2022 documentary *Navalny* and recently released the narrative feature *Tuner*—will direct the film and co-write a treatment with screenwriter Matthew Robinson. Robinson, known for the sci-fi horror hit *The Last House* and the Gore Verbinski-directed *Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die*, will also adapt the screenplay. Production will be overseen by Lord Miller’s first-look deal with Universal, with Lucy Kitada and Aditya Sood listed as producers alongside Brazeal’s own executive producer role. Universal’s senior vice president of production development Ryan Jones and director of production development Christine Sun will supervise the project.

Source Material and Novel Release

Brazeal, a former Google employee who co-founded the marketing firm Freeman & Forrest, released *Paradox Inc.* through Penguin Random House on January 19, 2027. Prior to the novel, Brazeal built a following with YouTube videos and webcomics that satirized the tech industry.

Lord Miller’s Broader Slate

The announcement follows a banner year for Lord Miller, which produced the high-grossing *Project Hail Mary* (a $684 million worldwide release) and the Emmy-nominated series *Spider-Noir*. Upcoming titles in the Lord Miller pipeline include *Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse* (scheduled for June 2027), a live-action *Archie* film, and adaptations of *The Six* and *The Last Expedition*.

Distribution and Representation

Universal will handle distribution, while the production entities are represented by United Talent Agency (UTA) and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. Roher is represented by UTA, Range, and Gang & Tyre Ramer; Robinson by UTA, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Ziffren Brittenham; Brazeal by Circle Management + Production and the Howard Morhaim Literary Agency.
