Patrick Theodore Barnett, 40, of Lakewood called 911 early the morning his wife, Lindsey Barnett, 37, was discovered with a slit throat in the shower of their home. Barnett told dispatchers that his wife had “cut herself and her throat” and that she had been suffering from postpartum depression. Investigators noted that the scene did not align with Barnett’s account. A “dainty” bloody footprint, appearing to be female, was found between the bed and the bathroom, and a knocked-over plant with soil was observed in the same area. Lindsey’s body bore bruises on her arms and legs, some consistent with defensive wounds. Barnett also had fresh cuts and scratches on his thumb, arm, abdomen and collarbone that police described as consistent with defensive injuries.
