Ofqual chief urges
  • GCSE results were released on Thursday for pupils in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, many of whom were 17-year-olds retaking exams.
  • Ofqual chief Sir Ian Bauckham said that increasing the number of students achieving grade 4 will create more workplace opportunities.
  • A Level 1 stepping-stone qualification will launch in 2028 for students failing GCSE maths or English.
  • Joint Council for Qualifications said top-grade entries rose to 22.0% of entries, up 0.1 point.
