New Cast Additions for “Gable” Biopic

Deadline reports that the upcoming independent film *Gable*—the dramatization of Olympic gold-medalist wrestler Dan Gable’s life—has expanded its ensemble. Mireille Enos joins the project as Katie Gable, Dan’s mother, replacing Leslie Bibb, who departed to pursue a leading role in the Amazon series *Escorted*. Ella Bright has been cast as Diane Gable, Dan’s sister, while Jake Picking has been added to the roster, taking over from KJ Apa, who faced a scheduling conflict with Netflix’s *Myron Bolitar*. The production has not yet disclosed Picking’s specific character.

The Dan Gable Story Behind the Film

*Gable* follows the true-to-life journey of a working-class youth from Waterloo, Iowa, who survived a family tragedy and built a dominant wrestling career, compiling a 181-1 record in high school and college before confronting Soviet opponents during the Cold War. Finn Cole leads the cast as Dan Gable, with Ben Foster also attached. Director Jon Greenhalgh—known for Netflix’s *Team Foxcatcher*—is steering the film from a script co-written by Michael Wallach.

Key Cast and Production Team

The film’s producers include Shaun Redick and Yvette Yates Redick of Impossible Dream Entertainment, who previously partnered with Foster on *The Messenger*. Executive producers are Andy Barth, former chairman of Capital Guardian Trust, and Graham Manley. Legal affairs are handled by Steven Beer and Robert Maslonka of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard and Smith LLP. In addition to the new cast members, Enos is noted for recent work on Apple’s *For All Mankind* (season 5) and the upcoming crime thriller *American Hostage* (premiering September 20). Bright, a New York-born, London-raised actress, gained prominence through Prime Video’s hit series *Off Campus*, which logged 37 million views in its first week and is now in production on a second season. Picking’s breakout role was as Rock Hudson in Netflix’s *Hollywood*; he most recently appeared in the second season of *Running Point*.

Series Success and Actor Profiles

*Off Campus*’s rapid viewership underscores Bright’s rising profile, while Picking’s recent television work highlights his growing visibility. Both actors bring fresh energy to *Gable*, complementing the established talent of Enos, Cole, and Foster as the film moves toward production.
