Hercule: BBC’s New Poirot Series Takes a Young Turn

The BBC and BritBox have released the first-look images of Edward Bluemel portraying a younger Hercule Poirot in the forthcoming six-part drama Hercule. Filming is under way in Liverpool, with Mammoth Screen (part of ITV Studios) and Agatha Christie Limited producing for BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BritBox. The series is scheduled to debut in 2027 in the United Kingdom and North America.

Agatha Christie’s Belgian detective has been adapted repeatedly since the first novel appeared in October 1920, with the novels collectively selling more than 750 million copies. Iconic portrayals have included David Suchet, Peter Ustinov and Kenneth Branagh. Hercule diverges from the usual formula by focusing on Poirot’s early cases in London and positioning the narrative against the backdrop of Britain between the First and Second World Wars.
