Tottenham’s Boardroom Shift: Daniel Levy’s Stake Diluted After Lewis Family Equity Injection

8/22/2026, 11:12:21 AM

Core Event – Share Dilution and New ENIC Shares

In early August, Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that the creation of new ENIC shares for a £100 million equity injection reduced Daniel Levy’s indirect holding in the club. The club’s website shows that Levy’s family trusts fell from 29.88 % of ENIC to 27.38 %, while ENIC’s ownership of Tottenham Hotspur Limited rose from 87.62 % to 88.30 %. Consequently, Levy’s overall stake in the Premier League side slipped from just over 26 % to just over 24 %. The dilution occurred because Levy did not purchase additional shares when the participation window closed, and no new shares were issued to him.

Background – Dismissal and Prior Ownership

Levy was removed as executive chairman and board member in September 2025 after 24 years at the helm. Although stripped of board authority, he retained a substantial minority interest—approximately 26 % of the club—through discretionary trusts that owned a share of ENIC, the club’s parent company.

Summer Financial Moves – Equity Injection and Failed Sale

The Lewis family injected £100 million of fresh capital in July, the fourth such injection since May 2022, bringing total owner funding since that date to £332.5 million. Less than two weeks after the season ended, a press release dated June 5 announced that Eight Sports Capital Limited had signed a sale-and-purchase agreement to acquire a 24.99 % ENIC stake from Levy’s trusts. An ENIC spokesperson later denied any knowledge of such a sale, and no confirmation of a transaction has emerged. A filing at UK Companies House dated August 14 confirmed that Tottenham continues to work with Macquarie, which advances a portion of the club’s broadcast payments in exchange for repayment with interest.

Outlook – Ongoing Boardroom Saga

With the Lewis family now holding 88.30 % of ENIC and Levy’s stake reduced to roughly 24 %, control of Tottenham remains firmly with the Lewis family. No further share-sale negotiations have been confirmed, and the club’s boardroom dynamics are expected to stay a point of attention as the new Premier League season begins.
