At present, Prime Air operates from eleven centers located in Tolleson, Arizona; Ruskin, Florida; Kansas City, Kansas; Papillion, Nebraska; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Hazel Park and Pontiac, Michigan; Richmond, Richardson and Waco, Texas; and San Antonio, Texas. The planned expansion will add metropolitan areas that include Chicago, Illinois; Syracuse, New York; Cleveland, Ohio; Atlanta, Georgia; and Boise, Idaho, among others. According to EP, the existing sites serve a radius of about 4.5 sq km and currently reach a dozen metropolitan regions.
Service Capabilities and Pricing
Amazon states that Prime Air drones can transport packages up to 2.3 kg (approximately 5 lb) that fit within a large shoebox, covering more than 60 % of items most frequently purchased by customers. Deliveries are promised within 30 minutes of order placement, with most arriving around 60 minutes after checkout. Prime members receive free drone delivery on orders of $50 or more; orders below that threshold incur a $2.99 fee. Non-members are charged $4.99 per delivery.
