The victims were identified as Mary Elizabeth Kimsey, 85, of Portland; her daughter Rowan Karla Kimsey, 60, of Forest Grove; Rowan’s granddaughter Stella Jade Kimsey, 26, of Forest Grove; Stella’s best friend Linsey Mae Haraldsen, 26, of Portland; and Haraldsen’s partner Alvin Raymond Chu, 27, of Portland. Two cats and two dogs were also found dead, and a third cat was later euthanized after severe injuries.
Victims and Suspect
Rowan Kimsey owned and lived at the property. Stella Kimsey resided there with her boyfriend, Benjamin Parker, who investigators have identified as the primary suspect. The investigation linked Parker to the murders through his relationship with the victims and his presence at the scene.
Investigation Techniques
Washington County Sheriff’s deputies tracked Parker’s cell phone, which pinged repeatedly in Enumclaw, Washington. Using the county’s Flock camera system, investigators matched the license plate of a vehicle belonging to one of the victims to multiple entries showing Parker entering Enumclaw five times without leaving. This digital trail led authorities to Enumclaw, where Parker was found dead from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle parked behind a grocery store. The car contained a firearm in Parker’s hand; no additional weapons were recovered.
Official Responses
Forest Grove Fire Department, the first responders to the Saturday car fire, issued an emotional statement expressing deep sorrow for the community and the families affected. Oregon Governor Tina Kotek also released a statement noting the tragedy’s impact and acknowledging that many questions remain more than 48 hours after first responders arrived.
Ongoing Investigation
The sheriff’s office plans to hold a news conference on Monday to provide further details, including the estimated time of the killings. Evidence collected from the scene has been forwarded to Washington County investigators for continued analysis.
