The Los Angeles Clippers’ plan to move Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors remains on hold because of an NBA investigation into alleged salary-cap circumvention tied to Leonard’s “Aspiration” endorsement deal. The league has found no evidence that owner Steve Ballmer funneled money to Leonard via sponsors, but the probe continues. Sources told ESPN in August that the inquiry could extend into 2027 if the parties do not reach a settlement and proceed to arbitration. Until the investigation concludes, both clubs have received an “Incomplete” offseason grade, reflecting the uncertainty surrounding the trade.

With Leonard’s future uncertain, the Clippers have reshaped the roster around younger talent. They added No. 5 overall draft pick Keaton Wagler and signed forward Rui Hachimura to a two-year, $28 million contract. Veteran guard Bradley Beal, who had declined his $5.6 million option, re-signed on a two-year, $13.2 million deal in mid-August. The team also retained Kobe Sanders and Bradley Beal while allowing Bogdan Bogdanovic, Nicolas Batum and John Collins to leave.
