British Transport Police (BTP) say a 13-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted on an Avanti West Coast service traveling from Coventry to Wolverhampton. The incident is reported to have taken place at around 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, while the girl was seated in Coach U. According to BTP, a man seated next to her later assaulted her in the on-train toilet and again in the same coach.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Following the report, detectives opened an investigation and identified a suspect described as a man in his 30s. On May 28, BTP confirmed that the suspect was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault by penetration. He was released on bail with stringent conditions while enquiries continue.

BTP issued a public appeal, asking anyone who may have observed the incident or the suspect’s behavior to contact the force.
