Police Response and Tactical Resources
Puyallup police spent roughly an hour attempting to negotiate with the suspect. A police K-9, named Dexter, and a drone were deployed to assist the officers. When the K-9 handler and three additional officers approached the suspect, he detonated the device and died at the scene. Police indicated the suspect had not disclosed, displayed, or hinted at possessing an explosive device prior to the blast. Four officers were within proximity of the explosion; they are undergoing medical evaluation but showed no visible injuries, according to the department.
