CXMT Reports Explosive First-Half Revenue Surge

Record Financial Performance

On August 28, CXMT disclosed its 2026 semi-annual report, showing first-half revenue of 150.31 billion yuan (? $22.4 billion), an 873.64 % increase year-on-year. Net profit attributable to shareholders rose to 77.61 billion yuan (? $11.5 billion), reversing a 2.33 billion-yuan loss in the same period of the prior year. Quarterly results indicate first-quarter profit of 24.76 billion yuan and second-quarter profit of 52.84 billion yuan, a quarter-on-quarter rise of roughly 113 %.

Demand from AI and Tight DRAM Supply

CXMT attributes the earnings boom to soaring global demand for memory chips in artificial-intelligence applications. The company notes that worldwide DRAM supplies remained tight and prices continued to rise throughout the first half, a shortage it expects to persist in the coming months.

Product Mix Upgrade and New Generations

The firm highlighted an expanding product mix, with DDR-series revenue reaching 69.47 billion yuan—46.3 % of total revenue, up from 31.9 % in the prior year. CXMT is ramping up DDR5 output and has sent its latest LPDDR6 chip—capable of 12,800 Mbps—to key customers for validation, marking the first time a Chinese DRAM maker has entered the commercialisation race for a new LPDDR generation alongside global leaders.

Risks and Outlook

While the current surge underscores strong market fundamentals, CXMT warns of long-term cyclical risks; an oversupplied market could compress margins. The company also cites geopolitical trade tensions as a persistent threat to its supply chain. Nevertheless, CXMT expects the tight-supply environment and AI-driven demand to support its growth trajectory in the near term.
