Greek F-16s Intercept Turkish Drone Over Northern Aegean

A Turkish unmanned aircraft entered the Athens Flight Information Region, crossing Greek national airspace between the islands of Samothraki and Lemnos. The Hellenic Air Force immediately placed its forces on alert and dispatched two F-16 fighter jets to locate, identify, and intercept the UAV. The aircraft was driven away without incident. During the interception, a passenger plane preparing to take off from Alexandroupoli Airport was instructed by the Civil Aviation Authority to follow an alternate low-altitude route until the area was cleared, after which it continued to Eleftherios Venizelos Airport.
