Dolly Forms
- The U.S. National Hurricane Center announced Tropical Storm Dolly formed Thursday, 1,000 miles east of Lesser Antilles.
- The agency clarified Dolly’s name is unrelated to country music icon Dolly Parton, who died Aug. 25.
- Forecasters expect El Niño-enhanced dry air and wind shear to weaken Dolly into a tropical wave by weekend.
- Dolly’s remnants may bring heavy rain and gusty winds to the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands Saturday-Sunday.
