Steven Alker Wins Ally Challenge for Second Straight Year

Steven Alker, a 55-year-old New Zealand native on the PGA Tour Champions, posted a final-round 4-under-68 at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club to capture the Ally Challenge by three strokes. His total of 15-under-201 marked his 13th career win on the 50-and-over circuit and his third victory of the season, following wins at the Rogers Charity Classic in Calgary and the Cologuard Classic in Tucson. Retief Goosen finished second after a low-round 64, while Stewart Cink, Greg Chalmers and Michael Block tied for third.

Alker entered the tournament having won the Rogers Charity Classic the previous week, defeating Y.E. Yang in a playoff. Earlier in March he claimed the Cologuard Classic, edging Padraig Harrington on the first extra hole. The Ally Challenge win adds a second consecutive title in Michigan; his earlier Michigan triumph was the 2022 Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores. The victory also strengthens his position in the season-long Charles Schwab Cup points race, a competition he has won twice before.

Alker praised his 245-yard 3-wood approach on the 13th hole, calling the shot “perfect number” and noting that “it worked out well.” Michael Block, the rookie who led after two rounds, admitted he learned from the experience, describing his performance as a “learning experience.”
