Seahawks Promote Undrafted Receiver Montorie Foster Jr. to Active Roster

Montorie Foster Jr. went undrafted in 2025 after finishing his collegiate career at Michigan State with 108 catches, ranking 28th in school history. He earned a tryout invitation to the Seahawks’ rookie minicamp in May 2025, impressed the staff, and was signed as a free agent a few days later. An early-season hamstring injury led to his release on Aug. 6, after which he returned to Cleveland, obtained a real-estate license, and filled in as a Latin substitute at St. Edward High School. While staying in shape, Foster received a “random phone call” in late December when starter Cody White was placed on injured reserve. The Seahawks brought him back, and he remained on the 70-man roster through the season-ending win at San Francisco that clinched the NFC West and a subsequent Super Bowl victory. The team re-signed him after the season, securing his spot on the 53-man active roster for the first time.

During the 2025 preseason, Foster caught a touchdown pass from Drew Lock against Dallas and totaled seven receptions for 73 yards across three games, leading the Seahawks in receptions. He also contributed on kickoff and punt returns and earned a practice-squad Super Bowl ring for the previous season’s playoff run.

Schneider also highlighted Foster’s work ethic on special teams, saying his contributions have been “really nice.” Veteran receiver Rashid Shaheed commended Foster’s mindset and daily effort, emphasizing the need to keep him “locked in” and reminding him of the opportunity he has earned.
