USPS Requires Barcodes
- The U.S. Postal Service issued a rule on Aug. 26 requiring barcode-marked mail-ballot envelopes and a portal for the November 2026 midterm elections.
- Senator Richard Blumenthal wrote to Postmaster General David Steiner urging abandonment of the rule after a whistleblower warned portal was untested.
- The Supreme Court on Aug. 24 lifted a lower-court order that had halted the rule.
