Tameem Choudhury, 29, a former finance worker at Breast Cancer Now, exploited his role to divert a charitable refund into his personal Santander account. On 11 August 2023 he used his work email and Breast Cancer Now-letterhead to supply The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust with his own bank details, prompting a payment of £91,966 (-£91,966.72 in some reports) to be sent to him. The transfer reached his account on 16 August 2024.

After a “spending spree” that funded his wedding, honeymoon, a £14,000 Alexander Brown ring, debt repayments, flights to Qatar and transfers to relatives, Choudhury was arrested in June 2025 following a report by the charity. He pleaded guilty to fraud and money-laundering offences and was sentenced to two and a half years’ imprisonment at the Royal Courts of Justice on 1 September.
