Induction Announcements
The Atlanta Falcons announced that defensive end John Abraham and former guard Bill Fralic will be added to the franchise’s Ring of Honor during the 2026 season. Abraham’s ceremony is scheduled for October 11 when the Falcons host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. Fralic’s induction will take place in Week 16 of the season during the home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team’s news release identified the two players as the 15th and 16th members of the honored group.
Player Profiles & Records
- John Abraham – Drafted by the New York Jets in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft, he was acquired by Atlanta in a 2006 trade. Over seven seasons with the Falcons he earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2010 and recorded 68.5 sacks, the most by any Falcon since the league began officially tracking sacks in 1982. Including his entire 15-year career, Abraham amassed 133½ sacks and is nicknamed “The Predator” for his pass-rushing ability.
- Bill Fralic – Selected second overall in the 1985 NFL Draft, Fralic started 115 of 116 games across eight seasons with Atlanta. He was a two-time first-team All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler before finishing his playing career with a single season for the Detroit Lions. Fralic died of cancer in 2018.
Ring of Honor Context
The Ring of Honor, established in 2010, previously recognized quarterback Matt Ryan, running backs Warrick Dunn and Michael Turner, wide receiver Roddy White, center Todd McClure, cornerback Deion Sanders, and owner Arthur Blank. Earlier inductees include quarterback Steve Bartkowski, running back William Andrews, center Jeff Van Note, tackle Mike Kenn, defensive lineman Claude Humphrey, and linebackers Jessie Tuggle and Tommy Nobis. Both Humphrey and Sanders are Hall of Famers; Ryan, Kenn and Tuggle are also widely regarded as Hall-of-Fame candidates.
Significance
The inductions address long-standing calls for Abraham’s and Fralic’s recognition. Abraham’s official sack total cements his place as the franchise’s all-time leader in that metric, while Fralic’s career accolades reaffirm his status as one of the greatest offensive guards in Falcons history. Adding the duo expands the Ring of Honor’s representation of both defensive and offensive excellence, reinforcing the group’s role in preserving the team’s heritage.
