Recent Arrest Operations
On Friday, Israeli commandos from the Duvdevan unit entered the West Bank town of Qabatiya (also spelled Kabatiya) and detained five Palestinians whom the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) described as members of a terrorist cell planning attacks against Israeli civilians and security forces. The same day, the IDF reported concluding a separate 48-hour operation around Nablus that resulted in the arrest of ten additional suspects and the dismantling of weapons-manufacturing equipment.
On September 3, 2026, the Prisoners Media Office said Israeli forces carried out coordinated raids across the occupied West Bank, arresting 21 Palestinians—including a journalist—in Bethlehem, Nablus, Salfit and Hebron provinces. The operation also involved the seizure of a vehicle in Salfit.
Weapons Seizures and Tactical Outcomes
During the Qabatiya raid, soldiers recovered an assault rifle, ammunition and other military gear hidden in the suspects’ homes. In the Nablus-area sweep, the IDF reported destroying more than 30 lathes used for weapon production and confiscating dozens of rifles, handguns and additional ammunition. A separate search in the Nablus region uncovered a weapons-production machine, which the IDF said it dismantled.
In a related development, the IDF announced the targeted killing of Muhammad Mahmoud Marshad al-Qadi, a commander in Hamas’ Nukhba force, in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. The military described al-Qadi as an active threat who had recently planned attacks against Israeli troops and civilians.
Civilian Impact
A raid in the town of Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem, resulted in injuries to two Palestinian children, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society and the Palestinian news agency Wafa. The children were reportedly struck by live ammunition fired by Israeli forces that had taken control of a rooftop and deployed snipers in the Al-Muthalath area.
Official Israeli Statements
The IDF spokesperson’s unit highlighted the rapid execution of the Qabatiya arrests, noting that each suspect was detained within ten minutes of the commandos’ arrival.
Context of Ongoing Tensions
These raids occur amid a broader escalation of violence in the West Bank, where Israeli security actions have intensified since the start of the Gaza conflict in October 2023. The IDF and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) have emphasized that the operations aim to thwart planned attacks, while Palestinian authorities and human-rights groups continue to condemn what they describe as arbitrary arrests and excessive use of force.
