By contrast, 80 % of Republicans still approve of Trump’s overall job performance, though “strong” approval of his presidency fell from 52 % to 41 %—the first time it dropped below a majority in this poll series. The survey, conducted online with 7,105 adults from August 20 to September 1, carries a margin of error of ±3.3 percentage points.

A Quinnipiac University survey in July reported that just 34 % supported U.S. military action against Iran and 60 % opposed it. In the NBC poll, 66 % of respondents said the war had not been worth fighting, underscoring growing fatigue with the conflict.
