GOP Billionaire Mike Minogue Plans $2 Billion Campaign Against Gov. Maura Healey

Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Minogue filed a Statement of Financial Interest with the Office of Campaign and Political Finance (OCPF) indicating that his joint campaign with lieutenant-governor candidate Shawn Oliver will not exceed $2 billion in aggregate expenditures for the November 3 general election. Minogue, a former CEO of medical-technology firm Abiomed, framed the spending ceiling as a response to a controversial $2 billion state contract for a new courthouse in Springfield that was partially awarded to a firm co-owned by Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley’s husband and the interim chief of the state Convention Center.
