Rescue Operations and Technical Response
Ludlow Police and Fire, assisted by the Western Mass Technical Rescue Team, accessed the crash site, which was submerged in approximately four feet of water. Planking was laid to reach the aircraft, and the two victims were extracted and taken to the medical examiner’s office. Emergency crews remained on scene overnight, and removal of the aircraft is slated to resume on Monday.

The incident is under investigation by State Police detectives assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, in collaboration with Ludlow Police, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
