Germany Boosts Drone Defense
- On August 4, drones attacked Leipzig-Halle Airport in eastern Germany, striking a parked plane and possibly an inbound cargo jet.
- Germany announced rapid mobile drone-defense units and a national “cyber-dome” to protect critical infrastructure.
- Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said police will add helicopter units to guard airspace over Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin.
- A legal amendment will let critical-infrastructure operators detect and neutralise drones, after authorities recorded 1,000 suspicious flights in 2025.
