Running a 50-bed Ebola treatment centre costs about $500,000, according to WHO estimates. Each time a healthcare worker enters a patient area in full personal protective equipment, the expense is approximately $25. WHO spokesperson Christian Lindmeier noted that the agency requires $115 million for a six-month joint WHO-Africa CDC response plan; $112.4 million has been received or pledged, leaving a $2.6 million gap. The broader six-month response plan led by the Congolese government calls for $1.3 billion, and WHO has urged donors to increase and accelerate contributions.
