Ministers Condemn Displacement

On 6 September 2026, ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan issued a statement condemning proposals to displace Palestinians from Gaza.
Defence Minister Israel Katz said Israel would move Palestinians ‘by sea, by air, by every way possible’ if President Donald Trump approves.
The ministers warned displacement would breach international law and destabilize the region.
They said the plan also contradicts President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace proposal.

Historical Context

The 1978 Camp David Accords, signed on 17 September 1978 by Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and U.S. President Jimmy Carter, created the first Egypt-Israel peace treaty and altered Arab-Israeli politics. After Israel’s 2005 Gaza disengagement displaced 1.5 million Palestinians, ministers from Egypt, Jordan and other regional states on 6 September 2026 condemned Israel’s plan to move about 2 million Gaza residents, citing the Accords’ stability goal.
