RNLI Rescues Asylum
- The RNLI says it will continue rescuing Channel asylum seekers despite recent attacks on volunteers.
- Chief executive Peter Sparkes called threats to staff and families unacceptable in a civilised society.
- In 2025 the RNLI launched 9,058 lifeboats, of which 109 (1.2%) were for Channel small-boat rescues.
- The RNLI says international maritime law obliges any vessel to aid people in distress, regardless of status.
