Software: iOS 27 beta will be released in October, featuring an AI-enhanced Siri and a new layout that moves the Dock to the right side of the screen.

Apple’s engineering team explained that the ultra-thin glass layer, combined with a boron-trioxide-based composition and optically clear adhesives, enables thousands of fold cycles without visible creasing.

The company’s software team noted that iOS 27 introduces a vertical toolbar and a re-oriented Dynamic Island to maintain spatial continuity between the outer and inner screens, aiming to lower the adaptation threshold for developers.

Social-media commentary highlighted concerns about the visibility of the screen crease, but no quantitative durability data (e.g., number of fold cycles before failure) has been released by Apple.

While Apple claims the glass can bend “countless times,” independent testing results are not yet available, leaving a gap in verification of long-term durability.
