Core Event – Service Volume and Response Capacity
During Hebrew year 5786, Magen David Adom (MDA) recorded 1,911,412 emergency dispatches, an average response every 16.5 seconds. Its 101-call center handled 2,020,218 calls, answering roughly one call every 15.9 seconds, with an average response time of two seconds or less.
Background & Context – A 96-Year Legacy and Post-Oct 7 Initiatives
After the October 7 massacre, MDA’s Operations Division launched Project Magen to train civilians for initial medical response in emergencies.
Data & Statistics – Personnel, Vehicles, and Specialized Resources
- Human resources: About 39,200 volunteers, employees, national-service and civil-service members, including 16,500 teenage volunteers and 18,000 “Life Guardians.” Volunteers contributed more than 6.3 million hours.
- Infrastructure: 213 stations and dispatch points; fleet of 275 rapid-response vehicles, 117 ambulances/MICUs, 652 motorcycles, 27 mass-casualty vehicles, 42 supply trailers, 17 medical-supervisor vehicles, three Unimog trucks, five intensive-care buses, 10 disabled-patient ambulances, eight bariatric ambulances, 104 ballistic-protected ambulances, and three electric MiaFour vehicles.
- Aqua and air assets: Two sea-ambulance units responded to 153 incidents; five medical helicopters treated and evacuated 264 patients.
- Advanced care: A mobile ECMO unit, in cooperation with Shamir Medical Center, treated nine patients.
Training, Blood, and Milk Services – Community Health Contributions
- First-aid education: Over 500,000 individuals completed CPR and first-aid courses in more than 17,000 sessions; 401 new paramedics were certified.
- Project Magen: 17,804 civilians trained since launch; 1,322 trained in the reporting year.
- Obstetric support: MDA evacuated 18,727 pregnant women, assisting 1,399 births en route or at home; the on-call midwife project added 97 midwives.
- Blood services: Collected 281,917 blood units, with 46,407 from first-time donors; 9,541 whole-blood units supplied to security forces and hospitals. Operates 24 blood-service vehicles, 14 mobile donation units, and two buses drawing five donors simultaneously.
- Human milk bank: Distributed approximately 5,700 L of breast milk; about 370 new donors joined.
Impact & Significance – Supporting Civilian and Security Needs
MDA handled over 1.9 million incidents, treated more than 67,600 road-accident victims, and rescued 229 individuals from water. Its blood-collection and milk-bank programs supplied critical resources to hospitals and the armed forces, while Project Magen expanded civilian preparedness.
