Pocket Duo Specs, Pricing, and Variants
Retroid announced two models. The flagship Pocket Duo ships with a Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-7790 processor, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal storage, a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED primary display, and a 4.5-inch 960p secondary screen. Retroid states the flagship will retail for $270, with a $20 pre-order coupon available. The lower-priced Pocket Duo Lite halves the memory and storage (4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage) and is priced at $150. Both models are offered in several colorways, including GameCube-purple, Game Boy-style grey-white, clear blue, and atomic purple.
Comparison to Competing Dual-Screen Devices
IGN notes that the AYN Thor’s “Lite” version uses a Snapdragon 865 and costs $259, while its higher-end “Base” model with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is priced at $329. By contrast, the Pocket Duo’s flagship price is $270, positioning it between the Thor’s two tiers but offering a more recent Dragonwing chipset and an AMOLED primary screen.
Availability and Pre-order Outlook
Pre-orders for both Pocket Duo models are currently sold out, according to Retroid’s launch information. The company has not announced a specific release date, indicating that future sales will likely occur in waves, a pattern common to niche handheld releases.
