Google Wallet Passes Get a Full-Screen Visual Overhaul

Google has expanded the visual area of passes in Google Wallet so that each pass now occupies the entire screen. The redesign applies the brand’s primary color to the whole background, replacing the previous small rectangular card against a dynamic-color backdrop. 9to5Google reported that this change is visible across loyalty cards, boarding passes, and any passes users create manually, while transit cards continue to use the older layout.
Updated Layout and Interaction Elements
The redesign moves the pass logo to the top-center of the screen and places key actions—such as calling the associated phone number or opening the merchant’s website—near the bottom for easier access. 9to5Google noted that scrolling reveals these actions, and a “Settings” menu now lets users edit the nickname and usage preferences without using the three-dot overflow menu. Android Police added that the expanded background adds a vivid color that highlights the brand of each pass.
Rollout Scope and Device Coverage
According to 9to5Google, the redesign is being rolled out widely to Android users following a broader homepage revamp that introduced a new search experience earlier this year. The update reaches all supported devices, but transit cards remain on the legacy design. Android Police confirmed that the rollout appears to be complete for the majority of users.
User Control and Reversion Option
Both outlets explain that users who prefer the previous appearance can revert by tapping a clock-shaped icon in the upper-right corner of the pass screen. This option restores the older UI in its entirety, though 9to5Google suggested that most users are unlikely to switch back once they experience the new look.

Commentators have described the visual upgrade as a “nicer experience,” while acknowledging that bright backgrounds may be challenging in low-light conditions.
