Mas Holds Red, Dunbar Surges to Stage 19 Victory

On the queen stage from Vélez-Málaga to Peñas Blancas (210.8 km), Irish rider Eddie Dunbar (Pinarello Q36.5) claimed his third Vuelta stage win. He caught King of the Mountains leader Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain Victorious) inside the final kilometre and crossed the line 5:00:54, 14 s ahead of Buitrago and 23 s ahead of teammate Thomas Gloag.

The stage left the general-classification unchanged: Enric Mas (Movistar) kept the red jersey with a 1 min 37 s lead over Primož Roglic (Red Bull-BORA-Hansgrohe).

The previous day’s 32-km individual time trial in Jerez de la Frontera limited Mas’s loss to Roglic to 33 s, preserving his advantage heading into the final mountain weekend. Roglic’s fourth-place TT kept him within striking distance, while Felix Gall (Decathlon CMA CGM) fell to third, 3 min 01 s behind Mas.
