9/11 Honours at the Convention

During the Republican Party’s midterm convention at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, an honour guard performed a solemn bell salute to remember the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Emergency responders and military personnel stood in silence as the crowd, gathered to support GOP candidates for the upcoming midterm elections, observed the tribute.

The ceremony coincided with the eve of the 25th anniversary of the attacks, a milestone that has prompted nationwide commemorations. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum announced a separate ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial plaza in Manhattan, where families will read aloud the names of the 2,983 people killed in the September 11 attacks and those who died in the February 26, 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The museum also said it will add a seventh moment of silence to honour victims who have suffered long-term health effects.
