Roblox Introduces Digital Wallet and Payment Card
On September 11, Roblox announced at its annual developer conference in San Jose that it will roll out a “Roblox Wallet” for adult creators in the United States. The wallet will automatically transfer real-world revenue to a bank account each business day, replacing the prior manual conversion of Robux. A companion Roblox Card is slated for launch next year, allowing creators to spend earnings wherever the card is accepted. The wallet service, managed by payment firm Airwallex, will be extended internationally in 2027 and later to teenagers with parental consent.
Background and Recent Growth
Roblox’s user base remains large but has slipped from its 2025 peak of 151 million daily players to about 123 million in the second quarter of 2026, a 10 percent year-over-year increase. The platform’s revenue model relies heavily on creators, who collectively earned more than US$5 billion since 2013, including US$1.7 billion in the most recent 12 months. The median annual earnings of roughly 42,000 paid creators are about US$1,500. At the same time, regulators in the United States and the European Commission have scrutinized Roblox’s safety measures for minors, with several states filing lawsuits or settlements.
