Denny’s Rolls Out New Menu, Renovations and Expansion After Private-Equity Takeover

By Drooid · · How we work

New Menu and Renovation Rollout

Since the private-equity acquisition, Denny’s has begun “Project Grand Slam,” a company-wide effort to modernize its diners. In mid-August the chain introduced “Triple Play Combo” meals starting at $9.99, featuring the new Diner QP cheeseburger with 50 % more beef. A phased menu launch is slated for roughly 40 locations between late October and mid-November, with a goal of nationwide availability by April. Simultaneously, up to 350 restaurants are being remodeled, and the brand is adding new french- fry varieties and “pancakes for dinner” options.

Ownership Change and Strategic Shift

In November 2025 Denny’s was purchased for $620 million by a consortium of TriArtisan Capital Advisors, Treville Capital Group and Yadav Enterprises, Inc., bringing the chain into private hands in January 2026. The buyers—who also own P.F. Chang’s, TGI Fridays and a portfolio of over 300 other restaurants—said the deal would let Denny’s “redesign our organizational structure” and focus on long-term value creation.

Scale of Operations and Growth Targets

Denny’s currently operates 1,321 restaurants, including 78 international sites and 85 independently owned Canadian locations. The chain reported 131 fewer units than a year earlier, reflecting the closure of under-performing sites. Nevertheless, it plans to open as many as 20 new restaurants in 2026 and another 20 in 2027, while expanding catering to nearly 1,000 locations by month-end. Analytics firm Placer.ai described the recent right-sizing as positioning the brand “for sustainable growth” rather than decline.
